We are looking for a Legal Secretary/Assistant with a minimum of two years' experience working in a similar position in a law firm to become part of the Hauptman, O'Brien team. This position includes a variety of tasks of a confidential nature. We are looking for someone who is reliable, has a good work ethic, and who is a team player who will fit well with our closely-knit firm. There will be a considerable amount of interaction over the phone with our clients and medical providers, so the individual in this position must be comfortable communicating over the phone in a professional manner. Additionally, effective time management and organizational skills, coupled with a meticulous attention to detail, are necessary for this position.
Responsibilities
* Interaction with clients to obtain information necessary for their case.
* Contacting medical providers to obtain medical bills, medical records, medical reports, etc.,
* Preparation of spreadsheets and calculation of work comp payments.
* Keeping information in client database up to date.
* Preparing and filing documents with the courts.
* Maintaining calendars, scheduling hearings, depositions, etc.
* Composing correspondence, filing, copying, scanning, maintaining client files, etc.
* Answering phone and backing up receptionist from time to time.
Qualifications
* Prior experience working as a Legal Secretary/Assistant in a law firm, with extra consideration given to someone with experience in work comp and personal injury.
* Having the ability to maintain confidentiality of records and familiarity with HIPAA requirements.
* Having the ability to speak Spanish will be considered a plus.
* Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation and proofreading skills.
* Excellent phone/communication/interpersonal skills.
* Extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.), with familiarity with the NEOS client management software being considered a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
