Position:Lecturer

Location:Ithaca, NY 14853. The academic home for this position is the Department of Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), housed on the Ithaca campus of Cornell University.


Position Description/Responsibilities

Theat Cornell University invites applications for a Lecturer position in the areas of visual communication and gender and media. The appointment is a 9-month, full-time appointment at 100% FTE during the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters. We seek a colleague to join our dynamic program and make strong teaching contributions to our curriculum. The primary responsibility entails teaching two 3-credit courses in both fall 2024 and spring 2025 (Visual Communication and Gender and Media, COMM 4260). Summer and winter session teaching opportunities are also available.


Responsibilities and Duties: Teaching 100%

  • Lecture delivery
  • Grading
  • Meeting with students
  • Meeting with teaching assistants

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have earned a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in communication with evidence of the ability to teach media studies, oversee teaching assistants, and develop and coordinate activities with other instructors. Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

CALS hiring range for this position is $55,000 - $60,000

Pay Range:

$49,700.00 - $122,000.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.

  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)

  • Unique applicable skills.
