In addition, this role will ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, provide guidance, and support to employees, and collaborate with various stakeholders to effectively manage leave cases.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

LOA Program and Compliance Management



  • Direct Supervision of the Medical Case Management and support team.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Leave of Absence policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and subject matter expert for employees, managers, and HR partners regarding Leave of Absence programs, including FMLA, ADA, parental leave, short- and long-term disability related leaves, and other relevant policies.
  • Manage the Leave of Absence process from initiation to return to work, ensuring all necessary documentation is obtained, reviewed, and processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide guidance and support on leave-related matters, including eligibility, entitlements, and return-to-work processes.
  • Collaborate with HR, legal, and other relevant departments to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct periodic audits to ensure accurate recordkeeping, data integrity, and compliance with leave policies and procedures.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on relevant federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to leaves of Absence, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) or the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Monitor and track leave-related metrics and generate reports to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with third-party administrators, insurance carriers, and vendors to ensure seamless administration of leave programs and resolve complex leave cases.
  • Handle escalated and sensitive leave cases, ensuring confidentiality, fairness, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement return-to-work programs and accommodations for employees on leave.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging trends in leave management and recommend innovative solutions to enhance the leave experience for employees.


Employee Education & Experience



  • Develop and deliver training programs and materials to educate employees, managers, and HR partners on Leave of Absence policies, procedures, and best practices.


  • Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and employee experience of the Leave of Absence programs.
  • Assist in development of employee communications with respect to wellness programming (Healthy Living, EAP, etc.) in addition to disability/LOA processes.
  • Participate in creation and delivery of training to various populations, including wellness champions, occupational health nurses, HR professionals, site leadership and employee groups.


Licensing, Credentialing and Development



  • Maintain continuing education credit hours and training required by state and certifying agencies.
  • Participate in health conferences/meetings as needed for personal development and advancement.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or related field.
  • Active licensure as a nurse or vocational rehabilitation counselor.
  • Experience in FMLA/leave administration.
  • 5+ years of experience in disability case management, workers' compensation, and/or employee benefits.
  • Ability to travel 10-20%.


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:



  • Supervision of high performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, and related legislation.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies and practices, with expertise in leave administration, disability accommodations, and return-to-work programs.
  • Working knowledge of Medicare, SSDI, rehabilitation, disability, medical and workers' compensation benefits.
  • Ability to provide education and communication on employee benefit plans.
  • Bilingual capability.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with employees, medical providers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to provide education and communication on employee benefit plans.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professional standards.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical record systems.
  • Available to work across all US time zones.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex regulations and policies.
  • Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing best practices in leave management.
