Notre Dame Preparatory School is seeking a full-time LearningResource Specialist for the 2024 - 2025 school year. The ideal candidate will have a Special Education background. Besides the ability to be a team player who is compassionate, communicative, and calm, a working knowledge of Learning Styles, Learning Differences, Executive Functioning, ADHD, Anxiety/Depression remains imperative. In addition to providing direct support to individual and/or small groups of students, the Learning Resource Specialist will be able to read current student data to create individualized strategies for successful academic outcomes. The Learning Resource Specialist can expect hands-on work with both middle and upper level students as well as providing support for fellow faculty members. The right candidate will enjoy working in a mission-driven, religious educational setting. Employment is full-time for 10-months, beginning late-August 2024. Approximate contract dates are August 19, 2024 – June 6, 2025.
Notre Dame Preparatory School is an independent, Catholic, school for girls in grades 6-12 located in Towson, Maryland. Job Duties:
- Develop NDP learning plans based on formal educational evaluations.
- Implement NDP learning plans for students with documented learning disabilities in the classroom.
- Build on student strengths.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure that students receive the best possible support and accommodations.
- Monitor student progress and keep accurate records.
- Provide support and guidance with learning disabilities.
- Keep up to date with new developments in teaching methods and educational psychology.
- Acts as the SSD (Students with Services for Disabilities) or TAA coordinator (Test Accessibility and Accommodations Coordinator) for all standardized testing accommodations (HSPT, ISEE, ACT, College Board), assisting parents and students to apply for accommodations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education with Special Education endorsements (Master's preferred).
- A minimum of five (5) years experience through a combination of direct teaching students in a variety of classes and age groups as well as experience creating learning plans.
- Understanding of College Board and ACT requirements for accommodations.
- Extensive knowledge of learning differences and strategies.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, and school administration.
- Passion for bettering the lives of students.
