General Summary of Position
Under direction of the Storeroom Supervisor, the Central Distribution Specialist is responsible for maintaining the efficient flow of the activity in general stores. This position coordinates and performs the daily functions for supply and equipment distribution for departments. The Central Distribution Specialist acts as a liaison between department leadership, support staff, and customers to fulfill supply and equipment requests, resolve incorrect orders and shipments. This position notifies departments or order status and advises them of problems and delays on their orders as needed.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inventories all supply areas, maintains appropriate par levels and prepares orders for processing.
  • Confers with departmental representatives to determine if specific supply needs are being met.
  • Processes supply requisitions in a timely manner.
  • Effectively manages storeroom stock items by proper placement and rotation.
  • HBOC charging for patient charge items.
  • Performs cycle counts.
  • Unloads trucks.
  • Orders/receives supplies and stocks/delivers to assigned locations. Receives the supplies into HBOC database, verifies packing slips and completes documentation.
  • Performs other like duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
Education

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Experience

  • 3-4 years Warehouse and inventory experience preferably in a healthcare environment. required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
  • Ability to read, write and speak or communicate in English to successfully accomplish the essential duties of the position.
  • Ability to demonstrate ethical behavior that supports the hospital's mission, values and commitment to compliance with all federal, state and regulatory laws. Inspires trust and exhibits honesty and integrity within the scope of daily activities.
  • Exhibits professionalism, courtesy and excellent customer service, while interacting with patients, guests and co-workers.

  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
