04/14/2024Harrison Township School District has an anticipated opening for a LDTC. This is a full-time, tenure track position to begin June 1, 2024. Primary responsibility is the educational assessment of students referred to the Child Study Team, including evaluation and analysis of the pupil's academic performance characteristics and learning as well as case management responsibilities for students in PK through 6th grade.
Applicants must possess a State of New Jersey Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant Certificate.

Performance Responsibilities:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as a member of the Child Study Team. The Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant's responsibilities to the team include:
- Follow all rules and regulations prescribed by the New Jersey State Department of Education in the area of Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant according to N.J.A.C.
- Participate in the evaluation planning meeting for those students referred to the Child Study Team.
- Participate in initial evaluations by evaluating and analyzing the academic performance and learning characteristics of those students referred to the Child Study Team in accordance with N.J.A.C.
- Prepare a written report of the educational assessment according to N.J.A.C.
- Participate in Eligibility/Classification conferences, when appropriate.
- Participate in the development of the basic plan of the Individualized Education Program for those students eligible for special services, when appropriate.
- Serve as a case manager whose responsibilities include: Monitor the effectiveness and coordinate the review and revision of the Individual Education Program according the N.J.A.C. 6:28-3.6(j) for those students for which the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant is the case manager; Participate in the Annual Review meeting of all students to who the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant is the case manager; Consult with regular education teachers and Teachers of the Handicapped periodically in regard to those students for whom the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant is the case manager; Meet with the students for which the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant is case manager, periodically; Consult with Child Study Team personnel and/or teachers from districts where Harrison Township students are in attendance and for which the Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant is the case manager.
- Participate in any Annual Review meeting of pupils, when appropriate.
- Participate in the re-evaluation of students when appropriate.
- Serve as a consultant to the Supervisor of Student Services in the area of Learning Disabilities.
- Upon the request of the building principal, serve as a core member of the Pupil Resource Committee.
- Participate in the development of curriculum as assigned.
- Act as a resource person in regard to educational techniques, programs, and materials that will best serve the students identified as eligible for special services.
- Consult with parents when appropriate.
- Provide training services for parents to assist them in understanding the special needs of their child, when appropriate.
- Provide consultation to the teachers in regard to techniques, programs and materials for pupils experiencing learning difficulties, when appropriate.
- Provide in-service training, when appropriate.
- Provide preventative and support services to regular education pupils, when appropriate.
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Participate in faculty meetings.
- Participate in kindergarten screening.
- Maintain abreast of State and local curriculum trends that impact instruction and the development of IEP's.
- Maintain professional competence and continuous improvement through in-service education activities, participation in workshops, courses, seminars, etc. meeting professional development goals.
Evaluation: In accordance with N.J.A.C. and Employment Contract.
