Learning & Development Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:
Planned Parenthood of Tennessee & North Mississippi is seeking a Learning & Development Specialist (LDS). The LDS will spend their time working across the affiliate to provide L&D support for new hire onboarding, technical, and soft-skill standardized training/development; facilitation-led in a classroom or virtual setting. This role requires someone that is very organized, training content creation/design skill, detail-oriented and can keep up in a fast-paced environment and department.
We are seeking a strong trainer, facilitator and content/curriclum developer for this role.
Key Partners: Chief People Officer, Chief Clinical Officer, Sr. Manager, Health Centers, Health Center Manager’s, Sr. Manager of Education.
Location: Hybrid role (2 days WFH 3 days in-office). Can sit in Memphis or Nashville.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Clinical/Health Center Training - 75%:
Provide standardized training for HCS; new hire onboarding, refresher, technical, new process and systems training
Function as a subject-matter expert for HCS, with an ability to be able to create custom training content
Travels to conduct team-centered training and end-user training on processes, tools, systems, roles/responsibilities, and soft skills.
Learns training content (including systems where applicable) and delivers effective, consistent training using approved training materials.
Consults with key partners regarding gaps between current and desired business results.
Supports training material updates and enhancements with direction from key partners as applicable to supporting HCS training needs
Supports scheduling, logistics and delivery of face-to-face virtual trainings
Conducts administrative work such as preparing for sessions, sending post-class communication and follow-ups, tracking training completions and administering training surveys.
Recommends materials and appropriate delivery methods for programs on a variety of topics.
Performs other learning and development-related activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Affiliate Training Support - 25%:
Provide affiliate-wide standardized training; new hire, refresher, technical, new process and systems training
Function as a subject-matter expert on multiple areas of the business/departments to be able to create custom training content
Travels to conduct team-centered training and end-user training on processes, tools, systems, roles/responsibilities, and soft skills.
Responsible for the management of our Learning Management System (LMS). Including running, creating, recording, documenting and reporting training activities
Learns training content (including systems where applicable) and delivers effective, consistent training using approved training materials.
Consults with business leaders regarding gaps between current and desired business results.
Supports training material updates and enhancements with direction from CPO and other Executive Leaders in supporting their training needs
Supports scheduling, logistics and delivery of face-to-face and live online instructor-led courses.
Plans, creates and and executes training calendar
Conducts administrative work such as preparing for sessions, sending post-class communication and follow-ups, tracking training completions and administering training surveys.
Recommends materials and appropriate delivery methods for programs on a variety of topics.
Performs other learning and development-related activities as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES FOR THIS POSITION:

Knowledge of adult learning techniques and broad knowledge of the talent development industry
Familiarity with competency-based learning
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS)
Advanced mastery of using in-person and remote delivery training tools such as PowerPoint, Prezi, GoToMeeting, GoogleMeet, Zoom, SharePoint, and/or other similar learning development and delivery tools
Superior research, analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
Excellent facilitation and presentation skills for audiences at all levels and sizes
Excellent written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills
Exceptional ability to connect content being delivered to the audience and their needs
Ability to rapidly learn important organizational principles and tie those to the content being delivered
Ability to produce high-quality deliverables quickly and without errors (punctuation, content, formatting, spelling, etc.)
Ability to rapidly master new systems and tools and effectively educate others
Ability to navigate Learning Management Systems (LMS) for setting up live online and face-to-face deliveries. Intermediate to advanced skills with LMS
Demonstrated capabilities in teamwork, leadership, and judgment
Ability to pose effective questioning and facilitation techniques to influence learners with self-awareness, self-discovery, and learning
Ability to apply prior knowledge and insights in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Advanced Microsoft Office skills:
PowerPoint – graphics, animation, master slide formatting, notes development, and basic storyboarding.
Word – reference and table creation, master formatting, and document structuring.
Excel – tracking, sorting, filtering, conditional formatting
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BA/BS degree in Learning/Organizational Development, Training/Instructional Design, Communications, or related field required OR additional experience above the minimum may be considered in lieu of the required education on a year-for-year basis
A minimum of 3 years’ direct work experience facilitating classroom and virtual training (train-the-trainer and end-user) in a corporate environment required
Experience conducting train-the-trainer sessions in a corporate environment required
Experience with content creation and design
Experience in healthcare desired but not required
