Job description

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a Lead or Senior Compensation Analyst. The Lead/Senior Compensation Analyst manages institutional and cross-function initiatives to the support compensation strategy. Oversees compensation consulting and analysis services to the organization including the development and implementation of St. Jude compensation programs, reward strategies, competitive market analysis, equity programs, and related HR programs and projects. Leads the development of new compensation programs and identifies and develops improvements to existing compensation programs. Provides leadership within the HR department ensuring all processes are efficient, highly automated, and proactive.

Lead- Compensation Analyst

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the compensation support for a large organizational segment. Leads team and provides guidance compensation-related and other HR related issues to assist leaders through developing flexible and creative solutions in line with compensation programs and strategy.

  • Lead cross-functional and institutional projects including planning, organizing and implementation. Develops project plans and engages stakeholders. Prepare presentations and present recommendations and direction to Executive Leadership.

  • Design compensation programs to support overall compensation strategies.

  • Conducts complex data modeling and analysis. Interprets results to develops recommendations and action plans.

  • Partner with additional HR and other functional teams (Information Technology, Finance, etc.) to ensure compensation processes are efficient and effective.

  • Provide guidance to team of Compensation Analysts.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field required.

Minimum Experience:

  • Six years of professional-level experience in a Compensation function, or combined 8 years in compensation and other human resource area.

  • Strong analytical skills are required.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives.

  • Healthcare or biomedical research industry experience preferred.

Senior Compensation Analyst

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise, leadership, and practical guidance on all HR and compensation-related issues to help managers and other HR staff sort through complex issues. Functions as an internal compensation/HR consultant to define issues, develop program solutions, and conduct complex compensation projects to enhance organization effectiveness. Works collaboratively with department managers and other HR staff to provide compensation-related advice and guidance while involving managers in decision making, whenever possible. Develops creative and equitable solutions to address customers concerns and/or issues. Provides guidance to management and HR Staff on equity, new hire analysis, reclassifications, reorganization initiatives, promotions, career-pathing, and incentive programs, etc. Assists the employment function with compensation-related issues during the recruitment process. Provides support to Management regarding best practices and trends in the compensation area. Provides recommendations for compensation program enhancements to Manager and Director.

  • Conducts job evaluation and analysis. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures, recommends salary ranges, and maintains documentation of activities. Reviews requests for individual compensation changes including preparation of formal proposals. Maintains an organization-wide job evaluation program which reviews internal relationships of all positions to ensure equitable salary grade relationships. Provides periodic reports and analysis to Management and Executives regarding exceptions to established policies and other compensation issues. Performs detailed, complex data analyses using a variety of databases and MS Office tools.

  • Assists managers in the development and revision of effective job descriptions. Assists managers in the conceptualization, evaluation, and writing of job descriptions through a thorough job analysis process. Audit jobs for content, assists with writing editing and maintenance of job descriptions, reviews recommendations regarding, grading, FLSA exemptions, job revisions, and organization structure. Reviews existing/proposed statutory requirements governing compensation administration and recommend appropriate courses of action. Periodically audits job descriptions to verify applicability and compliance with various rules, regulations and laws, including JCAHO and ADA. Assists with the maintenance of the job description files.

  • Serves as Project Manager overseeing the completion of projects including planning, organizing and implementation of medium to large -scale compensation- related projects which may include annual salary planning, annual market adjustments, career ladder implementation, and budget preparation. Ensures overall success of project, documents procedures, communication and validation of project success. Prepares comprehensive quantitative reports for review by management and executives. Prepare and conduct formal presentations to executives, management and employee groups.

  • Manages the compilation of compensation data including the participation in compensation surveys both formal and informal. Coordinates completion of yearly participation in salary surveys and ensures that positions are appropriately matched to benchmarks. Analyzes results, monitors market trends, and evaluates internal and external competitiveness as appropriate.

  • Prepares comprehensive quantitative reports for review by management and executives. Collaborates with Manager, Director, and HRIS team in to designing reports to facilitate compensation analysis/ management reporting. Assesses the information needs of managers, employees, and executives and provides accurate data analysis, trends, forecasting, modeling and recommendations. Assists other HR staff with the design of reports, as needed. Prepares periodic reports and summaries related to salary allocation program, turnover, aggregate compensation data, average merit ratings, etc.

  • Works collaboratively with the Manager and Director to develop policies/procedures. May write communication materials on pay policies and develop and present training on compensation programs, as needed.

  • Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned in order to meet the goals of the department and institution.

Minimum Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, or related field required. Master's preferred.

Minimum Experience:

  • Four years of professional-level experience in a Compensation function or four years of human resources experience at St. Jude. Strong analytical and PC skills are required. Must have demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives and strong analytical skills. Experience with Workday preferred
