Job description

Lead Toddler Teacher
Job Summary: A Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, age-appropriate, welcoming, and educational environment for our students. The lead will have the freedom to create lesson plans that best meet the social, emotional, and cognitive needs of their students.
Qualifications: the Lead Toddler Teacher must have the following education, experience, and certification requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Education or related field OR enrolled in an education program that leads to a bachelor's degree with 9 credits in education completed
  • One year of experience working in childcare, with children, and/or in an educational setting
  • Customer service and/or previous work experiences

Key Responsibilities: In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, all lead teachers are expected to perform other reasonable duties or tasks as assigned by the director. Basic duties are as follows:
  • Curriculum Expectations: work closely with other lead teachers and the director to ensure there is a clear set of lessons and themes being followed in the classrooms. The toddler lead is expected to support all potty-training efforts to help students become potty-trained at their own pace. LE3 is an academic program so all stepping stones to help students find success in the preschool room is the responsibility of the Lead Toddler Teacher.
  • Daily Responsibilities: each day the Lead Toddler Teacher should have a schedule full of lessons to keep the day moving in an organized manner. There will always be an activity coordinator in the classroom if not two. The Lead Toddler Teacher will have to delegate tasks to the room support staff to ensure that all children are being properly cared for and participating.
  • Program Expectations: being a Lead Toddler Teacher requires the individual to have the organizational, detail-orientated, and patient skills to keep the toddler room functioning. Daily communication with the parents should take place via our childcare app. Daily health checks, feeding, and diapering schedules, along with photos is the responsibility of the lead to complete on he/she/their own.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Lead Toddler Teachers will have the daily responsibility of ensuring the student's daily checks and requirements are posted in the child app each day. During the school year program, it is up to the lead to determine if he/she/they will have any students that need to have parent-teacher conferences.

Training Requirements: There is mandatory training that each Lead Toddler Teacher must obtain.
  • Within the first week of employment complete the three mandatory OCFS training:
  • Foundations in Health & Safety
  • Mandated Reporter
  • Elijah's Law
  • CPR/First Aid: Must be current or will obtain these certifications within the first week of their employment. Training will be paid for by LE3 Inc.
  • Attend all other mandatory LE3 training

Hours: all Lead Toddler Teachers are required to be full-time, and there is minimal flexibility in the time of day the lead works as we follow an academic schedule:
Outside hours: the lead teacher will be required to attend any open house events and/or meet-the-teacher nights.
Working Conditions: Based on which LE3 location you are at you may have varying working conditions due to the layout of a building. Most buildings cover the following working conditions:
  • Environment: indoor spaces require using stairs to get to, large gym place spaces indoors, outside playgrounds, and uneven sidewalks to travel along for nature walks.
  • Exposures encountered: many LE3 programs have varying noise levels depending on the day, time of year, and activity. Outside of noise level, most of sense exposures are common. There are times in which lessons/crafts require extra hands and supervision due to being messy (IE. Slime)
  • Essential physical requirements are not limited to but include walking, running, climbing stairs and playground structures, squatting/sitting on the floor, and standing for a minimum of five hours.
  • Physical effort/lifting: up to 40 pounds. Be it supporting children's needs to be held or helping the director carry supplies from room to room the most an individual would be asked to lift is 20 pounds.
  • LE3 at the moment does not offer regular night/weekend hours. As unique paid events pop up current staff in good standing have the opportunity to pick up extra hours.
