Position Summary:
LAC Federal is seeking a Lead Technician to work on-site and support a large shifting project for a large federal library in Washington, D.C. As Lead Technician, you will be responsible for managing a team of 3 Library Clerks while also participating in organizing and shifting materials from one location to another.
Office Location: Washington, DC - Orange, Blue, Silver Metro Line
Work Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM - Onsite Monday-Friday
Job Status: Temporary Contract - 40 hours per week offering benefits
Your Impact:
- Getting directions on how the shift will take place and relaying that information to the 3 others on your team
- Working on a team of 4, shifting material to their correct location and in the correct order
- Breaking down materials to include separating and sorting materials on book trucks according to call number ranges
- Identifying materials requiring follow-up for collection stabilization and rehousing
Requirements
Your Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Attention to detail
- Preferred knowledge of other languages than English
- Ability to develop knowledge of standard Law library policies, procedures, and services related to one or more library functions
- Ability to learn the general physical arrangement of the library and the location of library collections. Ability to understand the classification system required for accurate breaking down of materials
- Demonstrated organizational skills and initiative to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, effectively respond to changing priorities, and work independently
- Ability to learn and follow complex procedures and policies
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry items weighing up to (35) pounds
- Must be able to stoop and lift materials from the ground and bottom shelves
- Ability to push carts and trucks weighing up to 200 pounds
- Ability to work in cool and dusty environments
- Balancing on step ladders while pulling, moving, or re-shelving materials on the top shelves
