Position Summary:
Our team is currently looking for an experienced Fleet Technician to keep up our level of commitment to safety and customer service. In this role, the successful candidate will perform truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics on vehicles and work closely with other team members to meet company goals.
- individual must be able to carry out each duty and responsibility meeting FCC and Fleet Managers expectations
- adhere to all FCC Safety, Policies and Procedures
- adhere to all DOT and OSHA requirements
- DOT inspection authorized
- oversee the day-to-day operations of employees within the maintenance department
- plan and schedule all maintenance work and repairs
- monitor repair progress and communicate progress back to the Fleet Manager
- able to audit, review and understand DVIR’s, maintenance requests and backlog repairs
- assign work and repairs to technicians
- perform mechanical duties when necessary
- perform road calls when necessary
- ability to perform welding repairs when necessary
- monitor parts inventory levels, make sure truck specific parts have been requested
- proficient with diagnostic laptop usage and navigation
- perform PM Inspections when necessary
- perform quality control inspections
- hold technicians accountable for meeting standard repair times
- assist, coach, mentor employees, retrain employees when necessary
- create and submit reports
- good communication skills
- hold shift huddles
- review down list with focus on providing operations with required trucks for routes
- triage trucks, order parts, schedule repairs in a timely manner
- maintain a clean and organized maintenance facility
- Inspect safety sensitive repairs for final approval
- in the absence of the Fleet Manager, provide supervisory responsibilities
Experience and Competencies:
- 2 years of experience in fleet maintenance
- Class A or B is preferred
- Welding and body fabrication experience is a plus
- Must be able to read and comprehend technical reference materials (equipment and repair manuals)
- Experience with applicable Microsoft and diagnostic applications
- Strong attention to detail
- Prompt, professional and dependable demeanor
