Job Summary

Archaea Energy, a leader in the landfill gas to energy industry has an opening for an Lead Operations Technician position at our Assai Plant in Dunmore, PA. This facility converts landfill gas, collected at the landfill, into pipeline quality natural gas (High Btu or Renewable Natural Gas). The Lead Operations Technician is responsible for planning, directing, and implementing the overall safe operation, maintenance, and performance of a landfill gas to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) processing facility. Typically manages two or more Operations Technicians.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, requires on-call 24/7 on a rotating basis. The schedule is subject to change per business needs and management discretion.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages the operation of the plant during the assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards.
  • Ensures that the facility (including the well field) preventive maintenance program implementation is up to date, and that all documentation and records are filed (electronically or hard copied) appropriately.
  • Assist in performing routine and non-routine maintenance on all plant and field equipment.
  • Assist with the planning, implementing and scheduling of all maintenance, training, well field expansions and special projects.
  • Ensures that all daily production reports, flow meter data, greenhouse gas meter data, sales meter data and Start-up-Shut down Malfunction (SSM) reports are up to date and delivered (daily/weekly/monthly) to the appropriate individuals/agencies as requested.
  • When necessary, be responsible for the operation of the well field during the assigned shift in the most efficient and productive method to maintain compliance with the site specific Title V Operating Permit, New Source Performance Standards ( NSPS), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and prescribed safety and environmental standards.
  • Maintains daily Operation logs for shift in accordance with prescribed standards.
  • Uses required Personal Protective Equipment at all times and performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner. (crush proof safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, chemical protection, company provided uniforms and H2S monitoring equipment).
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable procedures in the Archaea Energy Services, LLC O&M Manual, Archaea Energy Services, LLC Resource Manual, Archaea Energy Services, LLC Safety Manual, and Archaea Energy Services, LLC Human Resource Manual. Knows and understands the project's Business Plan, and ensures compliance with applicable State, Federal, and local rules and regulations.
  • Be familiar with and follow all plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with all plant auxiliaries including but not limited to landfill gas collection system, and plant processing systems.
  • Be familiar with and perform work tasks in order to fulfill Corporate, Business Unit, and Personal Goals
  • Environmental and regulatory compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Operate control systems.
  • Perform plant rounds as requested.
  • Ensure the daily distribution of all operating reports and spreadsheets.
  • Perform routine, preventive and emergency maintenance on all equipment.
  • Assist in the training and development of all new employees.
  • Maintains all assigned operating logs in proper order, including flare logs, incinerator logs and SSM forms.
  • Works to maintain spare parts inventories and vendor invoice coding.
  • Observes applicable safety and environmental regulations while performing assigned task and directions from supervisor.
  • Assist supervisory staff with operational planning of outages.
  • Ensure project compliance with government rules and regulations.
  • Respond to call- outs and work overtime as necessary.
  • Maintain overall facility cleanliness.
  • Acquire knowledge of all plant equipment.
  • Acquire knowledge of gas collection control (well field) system, and associated analytical equipment.
  • Perform analytical tests as needed, examples: methane, H2S, moisture content, solvent quality and PH.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of process control systems as applied to landfill gas collection and processing.
  • Knowledge of basic math, gas chemistry, piping and instrumentation drawings.
  • Ability to read blueprints and follow established procedures with minimal amount of general supervision (i.e., work independently).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Proficient using computers and monitoring equipment to measure, record and make adjustments within operating parameters, perform faultfinding and repair as well as required scheduled maintenance.
  • Basic Chemical and Mechanical experience
  • Hands-On mechanical and process equipment.
  • Previous landfill and or gas processing experience
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, must pass background check, physical, hearing and DOT drug test.
