In order to qualify, you must meet the expereince requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes expertise in proving fire suppression; experience responding as a Hazardous Materials technician to incidents such as material releases, spills and weapons of mass destruction and experience serving as a member of a first response team to non-fire related emergencies such as accidents and medical emergencies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Selective Placement Factor: This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. This position requires you to possess and maintain all of the following Department of Defense, International Fire Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (Pro Board) equivalent certifications: (Please note: All certifications must be uploaded at time of application):- Fire Officer II- Fire Inspector I- Fire Instructor I- Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) Incident Commander, In addition this position requires you to possess and maintain the following- State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) basic or higher certification- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
