Job description

Job Description SummaryThis role is within the Commercial Ceramic Matrix Composite (CMC) Mechanical Design team in GE Aerospace's Engineering Division. The team is responsible for the design and development of CMC components within the High-Pressure-Turbine (HPT) and Combustor Module of the GE9X and LEAP Commercial Turbofan engines.
As the Lead Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and leading projects focused on delivery of production and engineering test CMC HPT and combustor hardware. You will need to understand impact of part manufacturing processes and defects on the impact on the program design requirements and possible impact to the fleet. You may also look into improving component producibility through design and manufacturing changes, as well as standardizing material for reviewing parts. You will be responsible as an individual contributor to drive for design and manufacturing changes to meet program requirements, collaborating with materials engineering, manufacturing, and analysis teams. You will need to implement lessons learned from other programs and new fleet findings into the next iteration of the component design. Other responsibilities for this role may include assisting engine test assemblies, customer fleet support, and addressing durability challenges.
Your previous experiences will be fundamental in iterating on existing processes and designs. In this position, you will have some level of autonomy, working directly with your team lead. You will be required to take ownership of the quality of your work and contribute input into setting your priorities. While executing tasks, you will need to assess your capabilities and seek guidance from your supervisor and technical mentors when necessary.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to make significant impact on the design and innovation of GE Aerospace's products.
