The Role
Seeking a Principal Software Engineer with superb mainframe technical and analytical skills to help maintain, enhance, and transform high volume production platforms in the Retirement Services Recordkeeping & Operations domain of Workplace Investing Technology.

As a Principal Software engineer, you will apply your skills in all aspects of various projects including design, development, and implementation. You should have a desire to gain an understanding of our systems and business, as well as providing leadership, guidance, and mentoring as needed to other team members.
The Team
We are an agile squad that is part of the Defined Contribution recordkeeping platform. Working together and with other squads, we deliver solutions to our customers by aligning the right skillsets to their most critical business priorities. The work is diverse, challenging, and provides for continuous learning and growth opportunities.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 8+ years of software development experience with large mainframe-based systems.
- BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Solid hands-on development skills in mainframe languages and technologies (Cobol, CICS, VSAM, JCL, utilities, FileAid, Endevor, debuggers, schedulers, etc.).
- Proficiency with the DB2 database management system and database processing concepts.
- Knowledge of native stored procedures is a plus.
- Deploy and support software releases into production environments.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with the overall testing process.
- Any knowledge or experience in distributed technologies, cloud computing, and/or Java programming is a plus.
- Ability to work with business partners to help define requirements and solutions.
- Provide estimates and scoping for proposed projects.
- Ability to perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects, both batch and online.
- Proven and strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with effective written communication skills.
- Confidence to think and act strategically, share innovative insights, and offer creative solutions to deliver exceptional user experiences.

At Fidelity, our goal is for most people to work flexibly in a way that balances both personal and business needs with time onsite and offsite through what we're calling " Dynamic Working ".
