Primary Responsibilities
The Lead Coding Coordinator is a Health Information Management Professional possessing prior coding experience and a high level of coding proficiency, responsible for the coordination and planning of daily functions performed by the coding team.
The Lead Coding Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with the Coders, CDI, Quality Coordinator and DRG Reviewers.
Essential Functions
• Acts as lead contact for coding related issues from all disciplines including but not limited to coders, reviewers, CDI, PI, Business Services and other departments
• Serves as source for coding questions i.e., department training, remote coding/systems training, education, quality, productivity guidelines and processes.
• Serves as a liaison with Clinical Documentation and with other ancillary departments as directed to resolving operation issues.
• Serves as staff support during times of additional coding staffing needs.
• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the iSCORE values of Jefferson.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years experience of coding experience required.
  • Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet utilization, and presentation software required.
