We're looking for:

A Jo’s Lead Barista will exceed the expectations of all customers in a multitude of tasks that include (but are not limited to) maintaining superior quality standards regarding food and drink production, preparation, sanitation, safety and expediency of lines.

The person having this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. The person in this position is expected to greet all customers and guests in close proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. A Jo’s Lead Barista must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). College Degree preferred
  • Two (2) years related experience in coffee shops or service industry
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
  • Ability to create documents in Excel and Word
  • Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Point of Sales systems)
  • Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and algebra, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Job Requirements:

  • Train and supervise workers in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures
  • Resolve customer complaints regarding coffee shop operations
  • Maintain knowledge of Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Assist Manager with delegating Barista duties and responsibilities in accordance with work requirements
  • Perform barista and cashier duties as needed
  • Display and sale of Jo’s merchandise
  • Works with GM to analyze operational problems, such as theft and wastage, and establish procedures to alleviate these problems
  • Assist Manager in establishing cost improvement objectives and implement action plans
  • Assist Manager with orders; maintain vendor familiarity; maintain price updates in POS
  • Assist Manager with implementation of inventory standards and procedures to consistently conduct an accurate inventory
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures when necessary
  • Compile and balance cash receipts at the end of the day or shift
  • Assist Manager in Daily Sales and DataPlus reporting
  • Assist Manager with testing and education of staff in all FOH/BOH menu and procedures
  • Assist Manager with planning, promotion, and execution of Jo’s specific events
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
  • Ensure open lines of communication with staff, all departments and upper management via email, logbooks, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property and notify Manager of necessary repairs or updates
  • Attend relevant meetings

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting
  • The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
