Job Summary:
The Lead Teacher is entrusted with the responsibility of creating a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment for children while advancing their physical and intellectual competence. This role also involves supporting each child's social and emotional development, establishing positive family relations, ensuring an effective educational program, and maintaining a professional commitment to excellence. Collaboration with the entire faculty in implementing lesson plans and a genuine understanding of children's playfulness, patience, integrity, and compassion are essential qualities for success in this role.
Essential Functions:
- Classroom Management: Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming classroom environment in line with NAEYC guidelines.
- Documentation: Complete all required academy and classroom paperwork, including daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports.
- Participation: Attend and actively engage in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings when requested.
- Child Supervision: Assist and supervise children during various activities and provide guidance when social, academic, or adjustment issues arise.
- Lesson Planning: Prepare and implement engaging lesson plans, programs, and schedules, while also creating instructional aids/materials.
- Meal Assistance: Assist children during meal times and support clean-up efforts.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all classroom and outdoor equipment is in good working order and used properly.
- Classroom Organization: Arrange the classroom into well-defined interest areas and maintain bulletin boards with pertinent information.
- Team Collaboration: Direct activities of other classroom staff to maintain an orderly classroom.
- Communication: Effectively communicate important information to parents and maintain developmental profiles for children. Conduct parent and teacher conferences as scheduled.
- Medication Management: Ensure that classroom medication schedules are adhered to.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Flexibility: Be prepared to accept temporary work assignments in case of staff shortages, such as answering phones at the front desk or assisting in the classroom.
- Event Participation: Assist in planning and implementing academy-wide events.
- Prospective Families: Meet with prospective families and communicate effectively with potential new customers.
- Child Evaluation: Participate in evaluating children within the classroom.
- Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other similar or related duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Must meet state requirements for the position, including a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Candidates must clear a background check to qualify for employment.
