Job Overview: Set up and operate CO2 laser machines for cutting mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the equipment, maintaining quality standards, adhering to safety protocols, conducting preventive maintenance activities, and operating SigmaNEST CAD/Cam nesting software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CO2 laser machines to cut mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum according to job specifications and quality standards. Correctly identifying material type, finish, thickness, and size.
- Program and operate SigmaNEST CAD/CAM nesting software for efficient material usage and cutting optimization.
- Perform routine maintenance on laser machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Monitor machine operation, inspecting cuts for quality and adjusting parameters as necessary to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Handle and maintain gas cylinders, including changing out gases as needed to support production requirements.
- Load and unload materials onto the laser machine using forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Conduct quality assurance checks on finished parts to verify count and compliance with specifications and standards.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines at all times to maintain a safe working environment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize production schedules.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area, including proper storage of materials and tools.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine operation principles.
- Knowledge of various steel types, sizes, and finishes.
- Proficient in using precision measuring equipment.
- Commitment to safety and compliance with established safety procedures.
- Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in work.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines.
- Ability to lift and move heavy steel parts.
- Standing for extended periods and working in various positions (e.g. bending, reaching) as necessary.
