The Opportunity:
Join our dynamic landscaping team dedicated to upholding the safety, functionality, cleanliness, efficiency, and attractiveness of the university. As a Landscaper I, you will play a crucial role in performing duties related to landscape maintenance.
Responsibilities:
Complete landscape maintenance in assigned zones using appropriate landscaping tools and equipment.
Conduct hand weeding and report pest problems per Integrated Pest Management (IPM) plan.
Maintain campus cleanliness by raking, picking up trash, and performing related activities.
Perform special tasks as assigned, including hauling fill dirt, watering non-irrigated installations, and other duties designated by the supervisor.
Clean and maintain equipment, report equipment needs to the supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of 9th grade.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of trade classifications, tools, materials, and task-specific sequencing for maintenance.
Ability to communication in conversational English in order to work effectively with customers and team members; operate and interpret the functions of the electronic equipment (e.g., telecommunication devices, iPod touch for IWMS PM checkpoints); comprehend and communicate standard safety procedures, guidelines, regulations, and policies.
Basic computer skills.
Demonstrated experience using landscaping handheld tools and equipment.
Ability to properly maintain equipment by cleaning, preserving finishes, checking fluid levels, and lubricating.
Adaptability to work in extreme environments and collaborate within a team of diverse backgrounds.
Health Assessment Required:
UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.
Additional Application Materials Required:
Two (2) professional references from current or previous supervisor/manager.
Special Instructions to the Applicants:
Position requires a valid driver’s license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.
