Crew Member - Landscape Construction
Reports to: Crew Lead
Pay range: $18-22 per hour. Average of 40 hours per week.
Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and passionate Landscape Laborer to join our talented crew. As a Landscape Laborer, you will work closely with our experienced professionals, contributing to the creation and maintenance of stunning landscapes that leave a lasting impression. This is an excellent entry-level position that offers immense potential for career advancement within our company. The Landscape Laborer is responsible for performing a variety of work tasks (generally physical labor) in order to assist with the completion of landscape construction projects. The landscape laborer will be required to operate a variety of tools and equipment to carry out specified job tasks.

Job Duties:
§ Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
§ Move and install soil, mulch and plant material to assist with construction of landscape gardens and related areas.
§ Aid in loading and unloading of trucks and trailers in am and pm.
§ Operate various tools and equipment, including: chainsaws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, blowers, weed whip, etc.
§ Mix, pour, and spread concrete
§ Assist in the construction of walkways, fences, decks, posts, etc.
§ Dig ditches or trenches
§ Perform land clearing activities
§ Plant and maintain garden beds
§ Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment required to complete landscape construction projects
§ Transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and hand lifting/carrying
§ Assist supervisor with job-related tasks
§ Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, and specifications to perform work activities
§ Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times
§ Comply with all company policies and regulations
§ Work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations
§ Spread topsoil and lay sod
§ Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner
§ Use and operate tools and equipment in horticulture
§ Tree, shrub and plant examination and treatment
§ Prune trees, shrubs and hedges
§ Plant fertilization and watering
Requirements:
§ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
§ Minimum one year experience in the landscape/construction industry
§ Capable of operating required equipment and tools in a safe and responsible manner
§ Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
§ Time management skills
§ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
§ Knowledge, or willingness to learn, of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/construction practices
§ Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
§ Ability to walk, stand, crouch for long periods of time and carry out strenuous physical tasks
§ Preference will be given to candidates with a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
§ Complete and submit paperwork to crew lead at day’s end everyday.
Work Conditions:
§ Ability to work with hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, and materials
§ Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. repeatedly through an entire work shift
§ Ability to work in a fast paced environment
§ Requires good manual dexterity
§ Excellent stamina is required
§ Work near heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis
§ Work outdoors in various conditions including heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold
§ Flexible working hours including occasional weekend work
