The Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing routine laboratory functions in support of the lab. This position is responsible for receiving and cataloging samples, ensuring proper chain of custody and laboratory safety guidelines are adhered to, setting up, testing, adjusting, calibrating, and maintaining lab equipment, and writing reports on all findings.
Essential Job responsibilities
- Receive laboratory samples and catalog samples into the laboratory network.
- Properly set up, test, adjust, and calibrate lab equipment to ensure results meet quality standards.
- Recommend testing based on client requests/problems.
- Dispose of samples and document chain-of-custody reports.
- Run samples through the appropriate tests and analyses to ensure accurate results.
- Record results and write reports on all findings.
- Coordinate with all laboratory staff, corporate administrative staff, vendors, and clients to meet requirements.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Some college-level Chemistry or Biology coursework is preferred.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Key Skills
- Basic knowledge and understanding of chemical hazards and safety equipment used in a laboratory.
- Basic understanding of good laboratory practices.
- Strong computer skills (MS Excel and database use)
- Ability to accurately document and maintain records.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective, professional working relationships with laboratory and other personnel
- Ability to interact with customers professionally needed.
- Exceptional communication skills.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8-5
Occasionally additional hours during time-sensitive projects and emergency overtime as required.
