The Department of Health, Maui District Health Office has ONE (1) vacancy located in Wailuku, Maui.
- Laboratory Assistant II - $3,006 to $3,809 per month (SR-08, Step C to I)
- Laboratory Assistant III - $3,194 to $4,038 per month (SR-10, Step C to I)
Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Duties Summary
Laboratory assistants perform non-professional laboratory work requiring a practical knowledge of laboratory functions and services; and the ability to apply standard laboratory tools, methods and procedures to the service needs of the particular laboratory. These positions provide support and assistance to professional laboratory personnel.
LEVEL II positions prepare standard solutions, reagents, and culture media for use in the conduct of laboratory tests; and/or makes routine examinations of laboratory animals; and performs other related duties as assigned.
LEVEL IIIpositions assist microbiologists, medical technologists or other professional personnel in some phases of technical laboratory work; prepares standard to difficult reagents, solutions and culture media used in laboratory tests; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Applicants will be placed on the eligible list for ALL levels for which they are qualified.
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Experience: Laboratory Assistant LEVEL II applicants must posses ONE (1) YEAR and LEVEL III requires TWO (2) YEARS of progressively responsible laboratory work experience which has provided the applicant with a practical knowledge of laboratory functions, apparatus and equipment, methods and procedures, and tests.
_ For level III, one (1) year of experience must have been comparable to the Laboratory Assistant II in State service._
Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.
