Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; evening & weekend hours as necessary
Job Summary: The Laboratory Animal Technician maintains the Animal Care Facility and the contained animals in a manner consistent with federal regulations as described in the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International standards. Works with the manager to properly handle any issues that might impact on the use and care of animals within the facility. Assists the manager in training members of the University community in proper animal care procedures. Maintains the security of the facility and handles routine operations in the absence of the manager.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with animals; OR associate's degree and some experience working with animals.
