The incumbent is responsible for representing the best interest of the Engineering Association (EA) membership with TVA. The incumbent shall establish and maintain an effective working relationship with TVA management and the EA membership. General responsibilities encompass all areas of representing the EA in grievances, contract interpretations, classification dispute handling, negotiations, and joint committees. Examples of work to be performed are as follows:
· Responsible for the preparation, assistance and/or presentation, and negotiation of grievances, classification disputes, and arbitration cases.
· Responsible for assisting section officers on special section projects and the resolution of problems outside the grievance and classification process.
· Responsible for giving advice and assistance to TVA joint committees for which the incumbent is assigned.
· Provides direction and recommendations to the Executive Committee on Labor Relations issues to assist in their decision-making process.
· Assists the Valley-Wide President and others as assigned by the Valley-Wide President in preparation for negotiations with TVA. Such preparations include, but are not limited to, solicitation and research of members proposals, development of contract language, analysis of fringe benefit data, analysis of salary data, and preparation of arguments for negotiations sessions. May serve on work groups in negotiations as appointed by the Valley-Wide President.
· Serves as advisor on EA committees as assigned by the Valley-Wide President.
· Provides input in all staff, Executive Committee meetings as required.
· Assists with training for Designated Union Representatives and for the Valley-Wide Executive Committee.
· Incumbent provides direction and support to the Executive Committee on legislative matters.
· Provides direction and assistance to the Valley-wide Executive Committee and to the sections to develop and implement recruitment programs.
· Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Valley-Wide President or his/her designated representative.
Supervision Received: Supervision and guidance are provided by the Valley-Wide President and are generally limited to overall objectives, general guidelines, and work priorities. Receives supervision on new aspects of assignments.

Minimum Qualifications: B.A. or B.S. degree with emphasis on business, Labor Relations, and/or human relations or equivalent. Experience in collective bargaining, grievances, and arbitration is not required but is preferred.
Additional Information: Would prefer candidate reside in Knoxville, Chattanooga, or surrounding area. EA office is located in Knoxville, TN. Required to travel often in carrying out the business of the Engineering Association.
