Job Description Summary
The Labor Ops Manager, Operations Excellence is an analytical and communicative leader within the Corporate Operations team. The manager will support the efforts to drive and deliver optimized operating results within labor management and labor effectiveness. From building out new and existing labor management systems & reporting platforms to standardizing and managing reporting delivery and visibility; presenting findings to relevant stakeholders. The manager will play a key role in planning, executing and closing out cross-functional team projects within labor management and effectiveness. S/He is accountable for supporting business process improvements resulting in measurable financial and/or compliance results. Projects involve measuring and analyzing current processes, improving operational efficiency, productivity, performance, and identifying and implementing new processes alongside the deployment stakeholders, launching new platforms including labor management systems, scheduling tools and MSP/ VMS solutions for contingent labor.
In collaboration with Field Operations Leadership teams, the Labor Ops Manager, Operational Excellence is accountable for monitoring KPIs, supporting strategic initiatives in the field, regular analysis of company performance across all platforms, overall system management of labor & scheduling, identification and mitigation of operational issues, and spearheading analytical components of operational projects.
Job Description
Specific Responsibilities
  • Work to better our teams understanding and use of data throughout our everyday roles and decision-making process
  • Applies continuous improvement tools and techniques, as well as other Lean Six Sigma principles and tools, toward a variety of projects.
  • Develops and delivers workforce management program and solutions. A comprehensive strategy to implement labor standards, data analytics and reporting.
  • Design reporting mechanisms which provide timely insight into labor performance and volume driven trends.
  • Develop analytical tools that help streamline performance, while maintaining predefined service expectations
  • Works as the systems & tools Subject Matter Expert for labor, scheduling, contingent labor workforce management across all hotels and brands
  • Supports the functional execution and deployment of initiatives and rollout plans throughout the portfolio
  • Contributes toward building a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coaches other employees on the use of various tools, concepts and practices foundational to Lean Six Sigma in order for employees to build self-sufficiency, sustainability and scalability.
  • Proactively involves property leadership in both divisional and property projects. Acts as a champion of both customer VOC and Corporate teams.

Pivotal Experience & Qualifications
A candidate for this position must possess the following applicable knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate and provide applicable examples to support their competencies therein.
  • Hotel Operational Experience. High level of specialized knowledge and skill in hotel operations, SOPs and P&L.
  • Analytical Systems Development This individual will have experience in assessing and monitoring systems and metrics for measuring critical aspects of operational management. With a consultative approach, this leader is expected to drive new processes that emphasize cost efficiency and productivity. The candidate will be skilled and dedicated to data and actionable metrics and predictive indicators of future success.
  • Labor Management This individual will have 3+ years relevant experience in workforce management and enterprise level labor management & scheduling systems
  • Project Management. Possess project management experience and ability to independently manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Track record of putting in place strong systems and processes to effectively implement and execute multiple programs. Must be a self-starter who can work independently and be a strong team player that contributes to the effectiveness of the broader Sonesta team.
  • Team Player. S/he will have a demonstrated ability to support, develop, motivate and recognize diverse teams focused on creating an inclusive culture of excellence.
  • Education. An undergraduate degree is required, preferably with a concentration in business, operations, and/or hospitality. MBA is a plus, but not required

Additional Job Information/Anticipated
Pay Range
Pay range: $90k to $120k. Base pay offer may vary depending on various factors, including but not limited to job related knowledge, skills and job specific/overall experience
