Responsibilities
- Perform personal care procedures within appropriate standards of care
- Perform clinical procedures within appropriate standards of care
- Report patient needs/changes in status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner and effectively communicates information to the health care team to ensure others are informed
- Accurately and legibly documents relevant data in the medical record according to hospital standards to minimize communication/treatment errors
- Assist with the preparation of the surgical patient and completes delegated tasks during the surgical procedure
- Complete and submits incident reports in a timely manner according to health center policy
- Adhere to infection control policies, as evidenced by application of universal standards, knowledge of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and use of the same in practice and proper notification procedures for real and potential exposures
- Know and understands the National Patient Safety Goals. Can locate resources and name all goals
- Mandatory education and competencies complete within the year specified
- Know about department and hospital performance improvement activities
- Prioritize and organize multiple tasks. Assist others as needed
- Responsibly complete all procedures/tasks scheduled during the work shift without sacrificing quality of work
- Report any incomplete assignments/procedures to appropriate personnel to ensure continuity of care
- Respond to department staffing needs
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the department
- Ensure availability of appropriate supplies
- Accurately enters information into the computer under the direction of the Registered Nurse
- Assist patients with completing birth certificate documents and completes electronic transmission of information in a timely manner
- Accurately file interim and permanent chart reports in the medical record
- Maintain supplies for and creates admission packets
- Add forms to the medical record as needed and apply patient identification labels to forms
- Efficiently and accurately copy medical record documents for patients to transfer to other facilities as well as disassemble the record when the patient is discharged
- Assist all patients, family members, physicians, visitors, and employees in a friendly manner
- Attempt to resolve complaints/questions through personal action or referral to appropriate authority. If unable to assist an individual, find someone who can

Qualifications
Job Requirements
- Current BLS & CNA/CMA/EMT
- Either completion of surgical tech program OR at least one year experience in L&D or department in similar position
- Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills as well as basic computer skills
- Ability to learn to perform direct patient care and basic nursing procedures
- Ability to interpret and communicate data relevant to patients' needs and responses to care
