About the Position: 

Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion is committed to the mission of meeting the needs of a multi-cultural, diverse campus community. Our highly qualified team of professionals is focused on providing human resource services and supports the University's goal to recruit and retain a high-quality and diverse faculty and staff. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Labor and Employee Relations team, as the Confidential Administrative Support II. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Performs highly sensitive and confidential administrative, operational, and project management support for the Labor and Employee Relations (LER) team. Including coordinating highly sensitive and confidential administrative work related to grievances, settlement agreements, investigations, and other complex issues. Duties include working independently with the Labor and Employee Relations team on strategic planning goals, projects, report preparation, meetings, presentations, conferences, and travel coordination. Serves as the point of contact for and responds on behalf of the Assistant Vice President as needed. Responsible for all aspects of the Assistant Vice President's calendar and travel, aware of the Assistant Vice President's priorities at all times.

This position also serves as the fiscal coordinator for the department, is familiar with the CSU collective bargaining agreements, reviews and drafts correspondence. Prepares and compiles data for reports, presentations, and other correspondence, prepares bi-weekly budget reports for the Assistant Vice President. Serves as a notetaker in grievances and other investigatory meetings. Maintains the plans, schedules, status reports, and deliverables for multiple projects, ensuring project tasks, timelines, scopes, and resources are up to date. Provides general support to managers as necessary for successfully executing department goals. Maintains positive working relationships and demonstrates professionalism, sensitivity, tact, and diplomacy when interacting with all administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members. The Confidential Administrative Support II will handle sensitive situations with discretion. Coordinates activities relating to meeting and conferring on collective bargaining matters, per the confidentiality provisions of Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA). Other duties as assigned. 

Essential Qualifications

High School diploma or the equivalent at least one year of general office experience. Possession of fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a basic foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Ability to understand basic office procedures, operate standard office equipment and software, and perform basic arithmetic. Possession of basic typing and keyboard skills. Ability to provide work direction, train, and provide guidance to other employees. Ability to make recommendations on employee staffing issues. Ability to coordinate events and special projects.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration or a related field. A minimum of three years of experience performing general office or administrative support in an executive office. Experience working with case management systems and/or personnel management systems. Previous human resources experience in an academic setting. Demonstrated experience in Employee Relations, labor relations, compliance, Title IX, or human resources work. Experience handling confidential documents and providing record-keeping. Previous Human Resources (HR) related experience focusing on hiring, recruiting, orientation, and performance evaluation. General knowledge and experience in administrative management. Thorough knowledge of Human Resources (HR) policies, practices, processes, and ethics. Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws and human resources practices.

License/Certifications

A Valid California Driver's License. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
