- Perform analyses according to established methods including operation of analytical equipment, calibration checks, calibration adjustment, recording and reporting results, and release of product and parts.
- Perform a variety of lab preparation, testing, and support activities, including:
- Sample receiving (identify test requirements and enter specimen into tracking system)
- Specimen preparation (abrasive cutting, turning, milling, grinding, CNC operation, etc.)
- Mechanical testing (hardness, tensile, rupture, impact, etc.)
- Metallographic preparation and evaluation
- Chemical analysis
- Maintain quality system compliance (calibration checks, self-audits, etc.)
- Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on lab equipment.
- Review industry and customer specifications and help develop, write or update procedures.
- Rotate hours as needed to support production or department needs. Daily or weekend O.T. may be required.
- Strong mechanical, math, and writing ability.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work and learn independently with minimal supervision.
- Capable of mistake-free work in a fast-paced work environment.
- Computer skills are required (working with Microsoft Windows-based systems, creating spreadsheets for calculations, entering and reviewing data in databases).
- Minimum of high school education in math and science (chemistry, physics, general) is required. Additional technical classes or associates degree an asset.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance
- Experience operating and maintaining chemical and/or physical testing equipment (microscopes, tensile testing, spectrometers, etc.) is preferred.
