Job Description
PolyPlus Battery Company develops glass-protected rechargeable lithium batteries for the next generation of electronic devices and electric vehicles. PolyPlus has been in operation in Berkeley for over 25 years.
PolyPlus is seeking Lab Technicians to assist in the research and development of glass-protected rechargeable lithium batteries as well as to fabricate battery components for its novel lithium-seawater batteries using a unique pilot line. This involves ability to quickly learn new skills, great attention to detail, steady hands, patience and precision.
Responsibilities:
-Assemble electrochemical test cells, battery prototypes, and battery components, using a variety of tools and machines.
-Work with chemicals, including electrolyte solutions and organic solvents.
-Record notes in logbooks and on log-sheets.
-Perform measurements and inspections, record observations.
-Collect and record test data.
-Assist with equipment setup and maintenance.
Qualifications:
- BS degree, or AA degree and 2+years of work experience in a high-technology environment, or 5+ years of work experience in a lab or high-technology environment.
-Must be eager to learn about novel battery technologies, and to learn to use analytical tools and scientific instruments.
-A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and relevant fields, as well as experience with glove boxes, dry rooms, clean rooms, vacuum systems, and/or mechanical equipment is a plus.
-Must have high attention to detail, patience, and precision.
-Must be able to keep good lab and production notes.
-Must have good analytical and interpersonal skills.
