A Manufacturing Lab Technician job is available with our client in San Jose, CA. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. In this role you will assemble, install, inspect, troubleshoot, and modify aircraft mechanical assemblies by interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, written and verbal assembly instructions, and test procedures from component level to full aircraft build. To be considered for this role, you will have a High School Diploma or GED along with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in Aerospace and/or automotive industry.
Two shifts: 6:00am - 2:30pm (first) and 3:00pm - 11pm (second)
Manufacturing Lab Technician Job Duties:
*Collaborate with engineers in the development and implementation of electromechanical systems.
*Perform on and off aircraft build up and modifications to electrical components including; wire harness fabrication, connector terminations, component removal, routing, installation, and repairs.
*Work closely with the engineering teams to support equipment bring-up and process validation Use manual, semi-automated, and automated equipment to build high voltage battery packs
*Troubleshoot equipment and processes
*Procure, install, organize and maintain shop and equipment Perform routine maintenance on equipment
*Perform inspections and measurements of product dimensions using basic metrology tools, (calipers, micrometer, depth gauges, measurement microscope, CMM, etc...)
*Utilizes various forms of engineering and technical information such as modification drawings, wiring & schematic diagrams, engineering dispositions, part lists / kits, and ground support / test equipment.
*Develop and support continuous improvement efforts within the department.
Manufacturing Lab Technician Job Qualifications
*High School Diploma or GED
*Minimum 5 years of related experience in Aerospace and/or automotive industry.
*A&P certification
*Familiar with the design controls, IS0 and AS9100 requirements.
*Direct hands on build experience with mechanical and electronic assemblies using technical documentation
*Must have hands-on experience using shop tools and calibrated aerospace tooling including torque wrenches, crimping, and striping tools
*Understanding aircraft safety, tool control, FOD, and industry standards.
*Effective organizational and time management skills.
*Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Google suite.
*Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization methods
*Experience following all aspects of maintenance safety protocol (LOTO, 55, Arc Flash, etc.).
*Experience using PLM, MES, and ERP software
*Knowledge of IPC 610/620 & AC43.13-B.
*Experience with electric aircraft.
*Experience with high voltage wiring, batteries, and electric motor controllers.
