Dayshift Hours, Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Responsibilities:As a Lab Tech at Waukee Med Park, you will be responsible for conducting various laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The role involves collaborating with healthcare professionals, maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the ambulatory clinic.
Some of the key duties of this role are:
Laboratory Testing:
- Perform a variety of clinical tests and procedures as ordered by healthcare providers.
- Collect, process, and analyze specimens, such as blood, urine, and other bodily fluids.
- Utilize laboratory equipment and instrumentation to obtain accurate results.
Quality Control:
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results through regular quality control measures.
- Adhere to established laboratory protocols and standards.
- Maintain proper documentation of all testing activities.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to provide timely and accurate laboratory information.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate patient care and ensure smooth workflow.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and troubleshoot issues.
- Report malfunctions and assist in the procurement of new equipment as needed.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and ensure the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Stay updated on regulatory requirements and maintain compliance with relevant healthcare standards.
Patient Interaction:
- Interact with patients to explain laboratory procedures, collect specimens, and address any concerns.
- Maintain a patient-centered approach and uphold confidentiality.
Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory tests and results.
- Document patient information, test outcomes, and other relevant data in electronic health records.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay informed about advancements in laboratory technology and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Laboratory Technicians if MLT.
- Graduate of an accredited Phlebotomy program for CLT
- Two years of previous clinical experience in an outpatient lab setting preferred (i.e. ambulatory clinic or hospital lab) preferred.
- BLS & Mandatory Reporter.
