Core Lab Supervisor- Chemistry/Hematology
Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine
Hospital for Special Surgery is seeking an experienced professional to manage our Chemistry and Hematology Lab.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of Hematology and Chemistry in conjunction with the Manager
- Point of Care support as needed
- Must have strong clinical and administrative skills
- Must possess demonstrated leadership for the provision of high standards for quality patient care
- Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) & Continuous Quality Improvement, and Corporate Compliance activities
- Ensure NYS DOH and Joint Commission standards compliance
- Serve as resource to all lab section employees and troubleshoot technological and operational issues
- Perform validation studies on new equipment, reagents & methodologies
- Write, implement and train employees on new procedures and technologies
- Ensure employees are observing appropriate policies and procedures and implement corrective action as necessary
- Demonstrate strengths in critical thinking, innovation, team leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Promote and support the hospital's employee engagement initiatives
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree required
- New York State license required
- NYS Supervisory qualified (minimum 4 years with a Bachelors, 2 years with a Masters)
- Ability to prioritize issues, resolve conflicts, manage project plans and communicate with all levels of the organization
- Superior oral, written and non-verbal communication skills; ability to forge and maintain strong professional relationships
- Effective presentations skills; ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage change
- Strong customer service orientation
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Medical Technology or a related science preferred
- ASCP certification preferred
- Lab Quality Assurance (QA) experience strongly preferred
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and pragmatic; a team player who is analytical and solution-focused while meeting deadlines
