Lab Quality Assurance Manager

Hazen Research, Inc. is an independent industrial research and development (R&D) company specializing in the mining, chemical, energy, and environmental industries worldwide since 1961. Our 18 building, 14-acre campus in Golden, Colorado, houses multiple laboratories and pilot plant facilities to support our R&D work across multiple disciplines. The facility is operated by a staff of over 100 engineers, chemists, technicians, and support personnel.

Position Title:

Lab Quality Assurance (QA) Manager

Position Summary:

Hazen Research, Inc. located near Golden, CO has an opening for a QA Manager. The role is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the quality standards, procedures, and policies for the company’s Analytical Department and its 4 laboratories. The role is also responsible for ensuring that the Analytical Department meets Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE) quality standards and regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Implement and monitor the quality standards for the Analytical Department
• Manage certifications, audits, Performance Testing reporting and CDPHE sample reporting
• Reviewing analytical data and Quality Control reports
• Client reporting and invoicing
• Answering client phone calls and emails
• Training employees on quality processes and procedures
• Performing Root Cause analysis and corrective action responses
• Monitor and report on quality-related metrics to senior management
• Collaborate with Analytical team to identify and resolve quality-related issues

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent customer service skills and professionalism, including patience and ability to listen.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) both internally (company-wide) and externally (clients and vendors)
• Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance principles, standards, practices, and analytical methodologies

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or other related field or the equivalent in work experience in a related field
• Proven experience managing the QA process for a laboratory work environment
• Highly competent using Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook
