Job Summary:

The Department of Clinical Laboratories at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Lab Information Systems Manager/TH Associate Technical Director.  The successful candidate will:

• Coordinate Laboratory Information Systems and serve as a liaison with campus Information Systems Department.
• Manage the maintenance and trouble-shooting of the Cerner, Co-Path, Document Control, Point-of-Care Testing Databases, and Systems Hardware.
• Upgrade and support additional software revisions and hardware, including Blood Bank, HLA Co-Path Anatomic system, reference laboratory interface, and other Laboratory Operational Databases.
• Prepare statistical reports for benchmarking and operational improvements.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory reporting requirements to Regulatory Agencies.
• Maintain Laboratory Information Systems compliance records.
• Ensure that Laboratory Information System Procedures and Policies are adequate and meet the needs of the Hospital.
• Assist in the implementation of upgrades of the Hospital Information System.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent in Medical Technology, physical or biological science.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ASCP certification.
• A current New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.
• Experience with Cerner Laboratory Information System.  

Work Schedule:

Variable Days; Variable Hours

Salary Grade/Rank:

SL 5

Salary Range:

Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
