Job Description
We are seeking a summer intern to assist in the re-development of our firm’s internal website. Our intranet serves as a knowledge base and a platform for knowledge transfer. This role will be essential in the development of this platform including the design of the organization system and accessibility of information as well as the storage and categorization of knowledge.
You will work primarily with the Knowledge Management Specialist and interface with all facets of the firm including our interdisciplinary design teams and operations groups.
What will you do as a KM intern?
Work with identified stakeholders to develop policies, procedures, templates, forms, standards, documentation, how-tos for the intranet.
Source information and assets from across the firm to contribute to the codification of project and process knowledge.
Categorize and organize these resources and information into the most appropriate format for the intranet (such as guides, libraries, or pages) so that they are findable and searchable.
Contribute to the structure and design of the intranet to maximize user navigation.
Help develop and solidify lexicon and terminology into glossaries to assist in learning and training for staff.
Develop methodologies to test the usability of the intranet and findability of resources.
Help onboard and train content managers to maintain their specified areas of the intranet.
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Master of Information and Library Sciences (MLS) degree is preferred.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
Willingness and ability to quickly learn the Knowledge Architecture Synthesis 6 intranet platform (training resources will be provided).
Detail oriented and organizationally minded
Ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization to understand information and knowledge needs.
Strong written skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to work hybrid in our Cambridge office.
As part of your internship at SMMA you will be a part of our Integrated Internship program. You will have the option to participate in professional development seminars and learn more about the industry or any of our multiple disciplines or services, but an interest or experience in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) industry is not required.
