Minimum Requirements

• Have at least a high-school diploma, 2-year culinary arts degree preferred.
• Have at least two-years of food service experience, which must include preparation of items from raw ingredients.
• Be able to pass a background check.
• Reference checks from past employers must, in general, be positive.

Job Description

• The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for food service activities.
• The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for the safety and wellbeing of all students in all classrooms. Allergies, substitutions, and other health/safety items related to foodservice are managed by the Kitchen Lead and lead director jointly.
• An in-depth knowledge of and use of sanitation regulations and best practices are essential.
• Knowledge of NC-DCDEE regulations and USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program requirements/regulations is helpful but not required.
