If you enjoy trying out new recipes and spending time in the kitchen, Kids Cooking Camp is the place for you! The Skokie Park District is seeking talented and organized Assistant Directors for summer 2024.
Description:
Reporting directly to the Director, Assistant Directors facilitate recipes, guide counselors, and supervise campers. Assistant Directors should be comfortable reading recipes, organizing tools and ingredients, operating equipment (stove, oven), using knives, and converting measurements. Collaborate with staff to ensure the safety and success of campers. Plan and lead camp games and activities. Supervise pool time, both in the water and on deck, to promote safety. Foster kindness and respect among campers, implementing age-appropriate behavior management techniques. Leave the camp site neat and orderly at the end of the camp day, including but not limited to washing dishes and wiping down cooking surfaces. Duties include maintaining accurate records and reports. Assistant Directors attend meetings and training as requested, and perform other duties as assigned.
Hours:
Camp begins Monday, June 10, 2024, and runs through Friday, August 2, 2024. Hours are generally 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday, but they may vary depending on the camp. Must be available to attend camp training the week of June 1, 2024, exact dates, and times to be determined.
Must be an enthusiastic adult, at least 16 years of age, who enjoys working with children ages 6-13 years old. Must have some experience leading groups of children, especially in camp and/or culinary experiences. Must possess excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Priority will be given to applicants with teaching certifications and experience in culinary fields.
