The Summer Camp Assistant Director is responsible for the direct supervision of program participants and the planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities throughout the camp day.
Position involves regular internal contact and contact with outsiders generally on routine matters, including daily conversation with all of their groups of participants.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with planning and facilitating activities.
- Practice active supervision of participants
- Manage the sign-in and sign-out process, assigning staff to tables as needed.
- Assists the Camp Director with creating and updating a schedule for room, park, field, gym, and bus usage.
- Submit paperwork in a timely manner, which may include: attendance records, accident reports, behavior/incident reports, receipts, activity plans, etc.
- Communicate effectively with participants and staff.
- Communicate any accidents, safety concerns, maintenance issues, parent complaints, etc. to the Camp Director and Recreation Supervisor.
- Coordinate camp staff rotation for the Beach Waterpark and work alongside the Aquatics Coordinator to conduct swim testing for campers.
- Manage distribution of camp shirts.
- Serve as the main point of contact for Teen Adventure Camp.
- Ensure classrooms and equipment is maintained properly and supplies are stored in an orderly fashion in the appropriate storage closets.
- Adhere to scheduled hours.
- Assist with leading staff meetings and/or trainings.
- Communicate with other Park District staff members and report any issues to the Recreation Supervisor and Camp Director.
- Assist Camp Director and Recreation Supervisor with staff evaluations.
- Demonstrate and support park district customer service standards.
- Follow district and departmental safety, personnel, and administrative policies, procedures and ordinances.
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by Recreation Supervisor, including substituting as needed.
Requirements of Work
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Seeking individuals that have availability Monday - Friday between June 5 - August 11
- Typical hours for the program are Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 4:00pm

Necessary Special Requirements
- Possession of valid driver’s license
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire
