Greenfield Animal Hospital has served the pets of Metro Detroit for more than 60 years! We are independently owned and operated and believe in low-stress handling of pets.
We are seeking an experienced Kennel Attendant to join our team! You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility as well as daily cleaning and sanitizing of the clinic. We would prefer that you have experience in a kennel or the veterinary field and be able to handle large dogs. We work with many rescue dogs who require extra care and patience and who sometimes have very little training. It is a demanding but also REWARDING job!
Our kennel attendants are very important to our technicians and doctors! Kennel Attendants will often help with surgical prep of patients as well as low-stress restraint and other tasks that they are comfortable with!
Required shifts would be:
- Sundays 9 am to noon or 4 pm to 7 pm
- Tuesdays 7:45-6pm
- Every other Saturday 7:45-5pm
- *HOLIDAYS*
Responsibilities:
- Handle general care tasks such as feeding and medicating of the animals
- Assist in LOW-STRESS restraining animals for veterinary technicians and veterinarians
- Keep records of animal feedings, treatments, and other updates
- Engage in play activities and exercise with the animals
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment
- General cleaning of the hospital
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in kennel setting or veterinary field
- 1 year experience handling large dogs
- Passion to help and treat animals
- Available to work holidays
- Ability to interact with animals in a calm, compassionate, and non-threatening manner
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
- Ability to take direction from team members
- Must not be afraid of getting dirty
