Hello!
I'm Brian of Sweet Cuts, and I'm looking for human editors who want to be paid for their work (so novel!). This is usually the part of the job listing where stuffy corporations will brag about the company's achievements and work culture. But I'd rather take the opportunity to say that work doesn't have to suck. And here at Sweet Cuts, we're professionally unprofessional!
Here's your mission, should you choose to accept it.
Job tl;dr
- You will independently edit videos with my guidance.
- The format is YouTube Videos (i.e. not YouTube Shorts). Current client's channel focuses on electric guitars.
- Workload is one video per week. Possibly two if I have the work and you're available.
- They're simple videos (10-15 minutes) that should take about 2-4 hours to complete.
- Each video might need a quick round of edits before it's "in the can."
- I'd like each video delivered within 3 days of delivering the raw files.
- The pay is $50 for each completed video.
Basically, if you can edit a video like this (https://youtu.be/d5l11qLCARc), you're qualified.
What you need
- Davinci Resolve 18 (psst... it's free!)
- Basic knowledge of video editing (including, but not limited to: syncing video and audio files, manipulating clips, working with multiple tracks, adding images and audio, keyframing, etc.)
- Gumption
What would help
- Prior video editing experience (personal or professional)
- Knowledge of advanced Davinci Resolve features (color correction, audio engineering, color keying)
- Basic image editing skills (Photoshop, GIMP, paint.net, etc.)
- Knowledge of electric guitars (anatomy, history, brands)
What you don't need
- To know everything
- An expensive degree
- Years of experience in the industry
- Adobe Premier, Final Cut Pro, or any other editing software
- Skills not relevant to the job (videography, motion graphics, VFX, photography)
Attach your resume in your application. Even if it's empty, ugly, or has nothing relevant to video editing. And link your portfolio too. No portfolio, no problem! We all start somewhere.
To clarify, you don't need to be an editing god to apply. Don't get hung up on being the perfect candidate. Prior professional experience is great but not required. If this is your first gig, that's great! Consider this an opportunity to get your feet wet with professional editing or to flesh out your portfolio. I'm more than happy to share what I know and help you along the way. I'll help you nail the desired style, but again come knowing the fundamentals of editing.
Also, I don't care how many other people you freelance for so long as you're handling this job well and on schedule.
I look forward to reading your application!
