Junior Systems Support Engineer
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):Bachelor's degree.In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a combination of higher education and experience totaling four [4] full-time years may be considered. Two (2) years of full time applicable IT experience.Experience with Windows Desktop Virtualization system (Citrix, VMWARE).
Preferred Qualifications:Additional years of full-time applicable programming experience. Experience with Cloud based MDM product solutions (examples Microsoft Intune, JAMF MDM, Workspace One). Experience working with Windows Server applications, Windows Terminal Server. Experience with AZURE Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Experience with desktop management products (examples KACE, LANDesk, PDQ, SCCM, Ghost).
Brief Description:The Junior System Support Engineer in the Desktop and Systems Engineering department will provide technology services in support for all DoIT managed systems. They will work under the general direction and guidance of the Assistant Director of Computing Services and support Windows Desktop applications, Virtual Applications, Desktop Engineering and programming. The incumbent will communicate with others effectively and be able to work independently.
Duties:
•Support DoIT's Virtual Computer Lab and virtual applications. Answer tickets associated with Physical Desktop and Virtual application issues. Test applications that run in a virtual lab prior to deployment.
•As part of the Virtualization team, work with the AZURE Virtual Desktop product to deliver solutions for complete virtual desktops and applications. Assist in creating and maintaining Virtual Machines (VMs).
•Workstation management in the SINC (Student computing environment). This includes but is not limited to GHOST image creation, maintenance, repair, lab installations and change outs, etc.
•Provide support for students and faculty with technological problems relating to the Virtualization of Applications and Desktops, this includes SINC Sites, Graduate Computing and Faculty/Staff.
•Install, configure and test hardware, related components, and software that will be supported by Desktop Engineering.
•Maintain an accurate inventory of the technology equipment, software and supplies.
•Engage in professional development to stay abreast of technological developments. Research current trends and developments; exercising informed judgment, and advising on new directions.
•Other duties as required.

Three (3) years of full-time applicable programming experience. Experience with Windows Desktop Virtualization system.
Preferred Qualifications:Advanced Degree. Experience with Cloud based MDM product solutions (examples Microsoft Intune, JAMF MDM, Workspace One). Experience working with Windows Server applications, Windows Terminal Server. Experience with AZURE Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Experience with organizing AZURE Active Directory including groups. Experience with Virtual environments (Citrix, VMWARE). Experience with desktop management products (examples KACE, LANDesk, PDQ, SCCM, Ghost). Experience with custom software packaging and automated deployment to various computer standards. Customer service experience.

Answer tickets associated with Physical Desktop and Virtual application issues. Test applications that run in a virtual lab prior to deployment. Research new technologies related to virtualization.
•As part of the Virtualization team, work with the AZURE Virtual Desktop product to deliver solutions for complete virtual desktops and applications. Create and maintain Virtual Machines (VMs). Use the Modern Desktop Management system (MDM) to install/update applications and apply patches to Windows computers.
•Responsible for Desktop management and applications on managed physical workstations using Microsoft Endpoint manager (Intune).
•Workstation management in the SINC (Student computing environment). This includes but is not limited to GHOST image creation, maintenance, repair, lab installations and change outs, etc.
•Provide support for students and faculty with technological problems relating to the Virtualization of Applications and Desktops, this includes SINC Sites, Graduate Computing and Faculty/Staff.
•5% Recommend for purchase, install, configure and test hardware, related components, and software that will be supported by Desktop Engineering.
•Maintain an accurate inventory of the technology equipment, software and supplies.
•Engage in professional development to stay abreast of technological developments. Research current trends and developments; exercising informed judgment, and advising on new directions.
•Other duties as required.
Special Notes:This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
