POSITION: Junior Litigation Paralegal
SUMMARY:
The Junior Litigation Paralegal will be responsible for assisting Senior Paralegals, Associates and Partners with overall case management. Under their guidance, your training will include developing and/or enhancing skills with factual investigation, document preparation, cite-checking, discovery review tools, trial/arbitration preparation and general support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize hard copy and electronic case documents, including managing electronic files and preparing binders
- Perform file maintenance, including indexing and filing case materials
- Proofread and edit attorney work product (grammar, usage, and content)
- Translate legal documents for the attorneys
- Research current events and perform key work searches in Lexis and other news data bases
- Assist attorneys with filings
- Provide up-to-date information on jurisdiction filings, rules, and procedures
- Modify and reformat PDF files and Microsoft Office documents
- Assist with hearing preparation
- Communicate with outside vendors for translations, document repositories, databases and document reproduction
- Provide status updates on active matters to the appropriate attorneys
- Coordinate with litigation support regarding document processing, review, data loading, etc.
- Develop expertise in use of document review tools, including the ability to prepare sets of documents to be produced and perform key-term searches over the data
- Maintain and manage databases and other applications as necessary
- Liaise with office support staff to ensure efficacy of workflow
- Receive Perform other paralegal duties as necessary
REQUIREMENTS:
- Desire to work within a global organization with a top Practice Group
- Excellent academic credentials, graduating with a 3.5 or higher GPA
- Bilingual fluency with written and verbal Spanish required; Additional fluency in Portuguese is a plus
- Strong motivation to attend law or graduate school (Minimum commitment of two years employment required)
- Enthusiastic, pro-active, self-motivated, and flexible
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, excellent attention to detail, and efficient
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of cite-checking, legal document formatting, and legal research a plus
- Ability to work overtime and weekends
- Flexible to travel domestically and internationally to meet case demands
- Bachelor’s Degree
