Job Summary: As an Entry-Level DBA-Sysadmin, you will assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases and Active Directory services. This role requires a strong interest in database management and system administration, coupled with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server databases.
  • Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Perform routine database backups and ensure data integrity.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining database security protocols.
  • Configure and maintain database auditing.
  • Perform routine database cleaning and archiving.
  • Assist in the administration of Active Directory services, including user and group management, and domain controller maintenance.
  • Monitor Active Directory health and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Active Directory-related issues.
  • Assist in the implementation of security best practices within Active Directory.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of database and Active Directory configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Generate reports on database and Active Directory performance and usage.
  • Collaborate with other IT team members to support various projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to end-users as needed.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
  • Assist in Unix/Linux administration.

Qualifications:Education and experience

  • This is an entry-level position; classroom work related to database management and Windows systems administration is an acceptable substitute for job experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or related degree is desirable.
  • Basic understanding of relational database concepts and SQL language.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server administration tools and utilities.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory concepts and administration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate) a plus.

Other Requirements: This job may require non-standard work hours or lengthened hours based upon system or service outages and troubleshooting. May be required to troubleshoot from home using personal internet connection.
