Job Description
$65,000 - $90,000 plus bonuses
Responsibilities:- Attend court hearings or other legal proceedings, perform legal research, and work with senior associate attorneys to provide legal advice
- Maintain client files in an organized fashion to ensure up-to-date information is handy for other attorneys, paralegals and support staff
- Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action
- Communicate with senior associates, paralegals, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently
- Draft documents such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, settlement agreements, and contracts to be used proceedings and contract negotiations
- Responsible for the competent provision of legal services including legal research; drafting motions, pleadings, orders, judgments, and status updates; and overseeing and analyzing discovery
- Manage the full discovery process including strategies for the overall success of cases
- Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
- Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
- Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Candidates must have passed the bar exam
- Licensed and in good standing with the Texas Bar
- Effective and clear communicator
- Must be able to track and meet minimum billable requirements
- Excellent and creative writer
- Knowledge of basic use of computers
- Proficiency with Word, Outlook, Dropbox, electronic legal research, and basic case management
- A positive attitude and perspective of seeing challenges as opportunities for growth
