Job Description
$80,000 - $120,000 yearly
Responsibilities:- Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
- Conduct legal research, prepare for and attend hearings and/or other legal proceedings, and provide legal counsel with the help of senior associate attorneys
- Resolve cases efficiently by using communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
- Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
- Represent clients in court hearings
- Has a Juris Doctor (J.D. degree) from an accredited law school
- Active membership with the American Bar Association (ABA)
- Applicants must have successfully passed the state bar exam
- Exceptional communication skills and problem-solving skills needed in order to work with all levels of staff and our clients
- Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Admission to the Texas Bar
- 3+ years as a practicing attorney
- Must have experience handling contested family law cases (non-negotiable)
- Family law experience must meet or exceed the following: (1) 50+ cases handling property divisions, (2) 50+ cases handling conservatorship issues, (3) 25+ contested family law hearings (temporary orders hearings, enforcement hearings, modification hearings, and motions) (4) 25+ mediations, and (4) final trial experience
- Ability to track billable hours
- Advanced knowledge of computer technology and the Internet (MS Word and Excel) and the ability to learn new programs easily
- Multi-tasking skills and the ability to work well under pressure
