Job Description
Our company is seeking a dedicated Jr. Network Administrator to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Sr. Network Administrator, the successful candidate will provide support, maintenance, and optimization of network services, devices, and communication systems. This role involves troubleshooting, testing, and resolving network service outages and incidents. The Jr. Network Administrator will also maintain network systems, configure devices, enable services, and respond to end user requests for network status information. This position requires travel within the service area.
Responsibilities- Understanding and applying OSI model principles to troubleshoot and resolve network issues
- Configuring and managing Virtual LANs (VLANs) for efficient network segmentation
- Implementing and managing Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) to ensure network stability
- Administering IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnets, and routing
- Deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting both indoor and outdoor wireless 802.11 networks
- Troubleshooting and optimizing network applications based on TCP and UDP
- Using Wireshark to analyze and troubleshoot network traffic
- Providing timely and accurate response to assigned tasks
- Adapting and learning in a dynamic work environment
- Managing time effectively and responding to requests to work flexible hours as needed
- Reporting all incidents through company’s reporting protocol
- Supporting company safety initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or 3 years or greater related field or equivalent combination of education/training/experience
- Proficient understanding of the OSI model
- Experience with VLAN configuration, STP, IPv4, IPv6, and indoor/outdoor wireless 802.11 networks
- Knowledge of how TCP and UDP function in networking
- Experience with network troubleshooting using Wireshark
- Working knowledge of SonicWall routers and Meraki switches and dashboard preferred
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and Windows operating systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Visio preferred
- CompTIA Network+ (preferred)
- Cisco CCNA (preferred)
- Must be able to attain TWIC
- Must pass pre-employment drug tests as well as random drug screens
- Valid Driver’s License (active)
The work environment includes both professional office and field-based locations in a marine environment. The successful applicant may be required to work in all weather conditions and at different elevations. The noise levels will be moderate-high when working in the field and may require hearing protection.
Physical RequirementsThe physical nature of the work will vary from day to day based on needs; however the job will require the successful applicant to be able to perform: climbing, balancing, working from heights, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, typing, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motion. Successful applicants will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to: Hard Hat, eyewear, safety vests, safety harness, gloves, masks/ respirators (when necessary) and steel-toe boots.
