NexGen is currently seeking a Jr Java Web Application Developerto design, develop, and maintain applications. This individual will have experience in Java/JEE development with an Oracle backend and will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen's and client's teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical leads, and project managers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Translate business specifications into cohesive software design and implementation.
- Modify applications and subsystems including bug fixes of the code. This includes a manual intervention to fix production aborts.
- Provide technical assistance to the client for future upgrades to the development tools (such as Eclipse) and environments.
- Collaborate with the client to review punch-list/Jira items and assist in making recommendations for fixes and enhancements to supported applications.
- Test all application changes and prepare deployments.
- Assist client personnel in providing support for all applications maintained.
- Assist the help desk personnel with troubleshooting any software problems with the appropriate level of expertise related to the application or any of its' subsystems.
- Notify the client project manager of any unresolved user problems or other areas of concern.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Technical Skills/Experience:
- 1+ years of experience in Java programming language including JEE Web Application development.
- 1+ years of experience programming Web Services.
- Understanding of Object-Oriented concepts, design patterns, and modern application frameworks with demonstrable experience in the following:
- Java/JEE Web application development using JSF, JSP, Struts, Seam, Hibernate, and Spring framework components.
- JavaScript including jQuery or AngularJS.
- HTML5, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).
- JEE containers such as Apache Tomcat, JBoss and/or other industry standard JEE application servers.
- Business rules implemented in Java and Oracle database.
- Use of SQL to access and manipulate data in Oracle Databases.
- Knowledge of Cognos reporting tool.
- Application and understanding of Relational Database Concepts.
- Understanding of all aspects of XML and XML parsers.
- Familiarity with all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

- The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
- US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science degree or related discipline with 1+ years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.

Compensation: $60,000-75,000 per year (Dependent on Experience)
