Experience Designer / Web Application Developer

The New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board (NYCIRB) is a non-profit, unincorporated association of insurance carriers.  NYCIRB is licensed by the New York State Department of Financial Services as the official workers’ compensation rate service organization in the State.  In this capacity, NYCIRB provides a variety of services to the workers’ compensation industry, including data collection and analysis, and the development of loss costs and rating values. These activities, along with analytical tools, research, and customer focused services, are intended to foster a stable and healthy workers’ compensation system in the State of New York.
This Designer / Developer will use knowledge of current graphic design software to produce graphic art and visual materials for presentations, educational and instructional material, through a variety of media outlets such as websites and PowerPoint. In addition, design and develop end-to-end solutions in the disciplines of internet / intranet Web Applications. This position will be creating, designing, documenting, developing, supporting, and implementing high quality customer-centric solutions. Designs presentations and web pages that support the organization's strategies, goals, and online presence utilizing established design standards. Particular emphasis will be placed on experience in building engaging presentations and delivering stable, serviceable solutions in an independent fashion, while maintaining quality and timely delivery. Excelling in a team environment where strong collaboration and high work ethic is essential. The ideal candidate will have a very strong eye for presentation and web design, UX/UI concepts, technical skills, including experiential knowledge of several graphics and programming skills. The candidate must be both a creative thinker and excellent problem solver. Because the position sometimes requires extensive interaction with end users, strong oral and written communication skills are essential. The candidate should also be able to effectively explain complex technical concepts and problems to nontechnical senior executives. A demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative, flat organization is critical.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support the complete lifecycle of a modern web/interactive experience from initial conception and ideation, through defining specifications, design, wire-framing, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Produce creative concepts, visual prototypes, and client-ready design composites based on brand style-guides and pre-existing design elements, as well as from scratch.
• Utilize graphic design tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft PowerPoint and other applications.
• Bring boring graphics to life through animation, the use of images, and/or new colors and icons.
• Develop responsive, front-end code from approved designs, employing proper web standards with a focus on usability and accessibility for a variety of platforms and devices.
• Architect, create, develop, build and support a wide variety of software programs in appropriate language and on the platform best suited to meet business requirements.
• Integrate best qualitative practices in design and development aspects of programs.
• Create and maintain functional specifications and other relevant technical application documents.
• Become familiar with presentations and applications developed by other programmers in order to be able to provide backup support.
• Must remain abreast of technological advances in the field and be able to identify areas of use in the organization.
• Responsible for system quality assurance and consistency with installation and security policy and standards.
• Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by management

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience of design and Web Application development.
• UX/UI Certification is a plus
• Written applications using Bootstrap, Quasar, Node.js, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, CSS and HTML.
• Portfolio of work featuring both print and digital, showing mastery of visual communication and an elevated, luxury aesthetic.
• Keen aesthetic sense, creative thinking, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Highly proficient in Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat), MS-PowerPoint, and Figma.
• Ability to execute projects accurately and quickly.
• Working knowledge of SharePoint application development is a plus.
• Familiarity with SVN and Git.
• Solid team player, must be self-motivated and punctual.
• Must be responsible, detail oriented and have strong quality assurance.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• BA/BS in in web design/development, interaction/experience design, digital creative design, or related field required
• Or BA/BS in any field combined with relevant experience in the field

SALARY RANGE:
$110,000 - $145,075.00
