Jr. Financial Analyst

Sanford Burnham Prebys is a preeminent, independent biomedical research institute dedicated to understanding human biology and disease and advancing scientific discoveries to profoundly impact human health.
The Jr Financial Analyst will be reporting to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis and will assist in creating financial report packages along with various financial performance analyses that help drive accurate forecasting and budgeting.
Duties and Responsibilities:

• Generates and consolidates timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial report packages for management review
• Maintains and coordinates financial data between departments including ad hoc reporting and analysis
• Assists in the development of financial models and helps manage the budgeting/forecasting process
• Maintains monthly indirect operating expense forecast vs. plan reports

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or other financial related field and one year of experience in analytical accounting and financial reporting/analysis or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained

Other Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

• Advanced level knowledge/experience with MS Excel and Power Point
• IBM Cognos (TM1 and BI) experience a plus
• Analytical skills and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis and problem solving
• Work independently as well as in a team environment
• Be responsible and have strong time management skills
• Able to analyze and resolve issues of moderate complexity
• Possess strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities
Compensation:
The expected hiring range for this position is between $60,000 - $70,000 per year commensurate with experience.
